Katie’s Guardian Angels

Why Donate?

FINDING HOPE. ELIMINATING THE STIGMA.

Providing mental and behavioral health services to ages 2-26, Katie’s Way was developed to overcome barriers by providing:

  • A non-institutional setting to overcome the stigma associated with an institutional model
  • Team-Based Care – psychiatry, psychology, and therapy professionals all working together at one location

Since opening, over 2,500 individuals have sought services at Katie’s Way. On average, 400 patients are seen each week. This includes outpatient therapy & psychiatry services, as well as Autism & ADHD testing.

Approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13-18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8-15, the estimate is 13%.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S., the 3rd leading cause of death for people aged 10–14 and the 2nd leading cause of death for people aged 15–24.

A FAMILY’S VISION

The Mathis family established Katie’s Way to provide services that promote children’s social-emotional development, prevent development of mental health challenges, and address social-emotional problems that currently exist. We do this by using evidence-based strategies as well as innovative therapy programs that specialize in serving children and young adults.

OUR MISSION

To change and improve the lives of young people affected with mental health challenges no matter how great or small. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Your contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

HOW DOES YOUR DONATION HELP?

  • You are helping erase stigma around seeking help for mental health issues. You support community outreach including visits to schools, parent support, and collaboration with other healthcare providers. Your support educates individuals on mental health and empowers them to seek treatment.
  • You are extending a lifeline to young people who need help. With your donation, we are able to provide care for underinsured and uninsured young people.
